Kevin Feige Hints How ‘Moon Knight,’ ‘Punisher,’ ‘Jessica Jones’, and Even ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Could Get More Seasons

By September 2018, Marvel Studios started working on limited series for Disney+ featuring “second-tier” MCU characters who probably wouldn’t get their own movies. The actors from the films were expected to return for these series, with Kevin Feige ensuring everything stayed connected to the movies.

These were “limited series,” meaning they had a set number of episodes to tell their story and were not likely to get a second season, except for shows like Loki, What If…?, and now X-Men ’97.

Before Marvel shows were on Disney+, it was common for them to have multiple seasons, with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Defenders Saga on Netflix being prime examples.

Now, Kevin Feige’s recent comments suggest that Marvel Studios may return to this approach. In an interview during D23 in Brazil, Feige said that Daredevil: Born Again will mark the start of a new direction for Marvel. He explained that Marvel plans to renew more series for multiple seasons, with Daredevil leading the way.

Feige emphasized that having shows last several seasons is one of the best parts of television storytelling and hinted that more shows could follow this model for longer, more detailed stories.

We’re going to have more renewals. It starts with Daredevil: Born Again… This shows that we like the idea of developing series for multiple seasons – after all, that’s one of the coolest things about television.

This is great news for fans of Disney+ shows that never seemed likely to get a second season. Recently, there have been many rumors that Marvel Studios is working on Moon Knight Season 2 and Hawkeye Season 2.

The biggest rumors are about the Defenders Saga. A few weeks ago, Winderbaum mentioned that he would love to see Jessica Jones return for another season in the MCU. He also hinted that Punisher will have more to do in the MCU beyond just Daredevil: Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again has already been renewed for a second season before the first even premieres, with filming set to start soon.
