One of the most anticipated MCU projects is ‘Thunderbolts.’ It was supposed to start filming in Summer 2023, with actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the SAG-AFTRA strike halted everything for over 3 months, delaying the movie. We don’t know much about the plot, except it follows a group of antiheroes on government missions.

A couple of weeks back, Florence Pugh shared a video giving fans a peek at the set, revealing the updated ‘Thunderbolts*’ title with an asterisk. Fans initially thought it might be a production detail until CinemaCon.

At the Marvel Studios presentation, Feige confirmed the title change, but he didn’t spill on the significance of the asterisk. So, it seems there’s something crucial tied to it that we’ll find out when the movie hits theaters.

Feige also showcased the new logo for the movie.

The journey of ‘Thunderbolts’ hasn’t been smooth sailing. It faced challenges like the SAG-AFTRA strike and Steven Yeun stepping down from his role as Sentry just months before filming was set to begin. Lewis Pullman emerged as the top contender to replace him, a rumor later confirmed by the studio.

Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are slated to return as Bill Foster and Melina Vostokoff in the MCU. Geraldine Viswanathan joined the cast as de Fontaine’s assistant following a schedule delay that led to the departure of another actor. The release date got pushed to May 5, 2025, swapping places with The Fantastic Four. Joanna Calo took on the task of rewriting the script, with earlier versions focusing on the team’s perilous missions, potentially leading to their demise.
