After years of fan theories and online rumors, Mephisto has finally appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The famous Marvel villain showed up in the final episode of Ironheart, the Disney+ series. Fans saw British actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen play the role, giving Mephisto a cool but creepy energy.

In that last episode, Mephisto seemed to make a mysterious deal with Riri Williams, which has now left fans guessing where the devil will appear next.

At a recent press event for Marvel’s upcoming movie Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed that this won’t be the last time we see Cohen’s Mephisto. Feige said they have more plans for the character, though he didn’t share exactly what those plans are.

Feige also explained why it took so long to bring Mephisto into the MCU. Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe really began, he didn’t know how to make a character like Mephisto work alongside superheroes. “He’s the devil; how do you do that character?” Feige said.

When asked directly if Mephisto will return, Feige gave a clear answer: “Yes.” He also added, “He was a big part of Thanos’ storyline in the comics. So again, now that he’s here, the potential is clear.” But as usual, Feige didn’t reveal much more.

There are several ways Mephisto could return. One possibility is in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is coming next summer. In the comics, Mephisto plays a big role in the famous “One More Day” storyline. In that story, Peter Parker makes a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May’s life, but in return, he loses his marriage to Mary Jane and has his secret identity restored.

Fans think this could be the perfect way for Mephisto to appear again, especially since Peter and MJ’s story has been left open in the films.

Another possible appearance for Mephisto could happen in Avengers: Doomsday, expected in 2026. Mephisto has a past connection with Doctor Doom’s family. In the comics, Doom’s mother, Cynthia, made a deal with Mephisto to gain power and take revenge on those who hurt her people.

But the deal turned bad, leading to her death. Later, Doctor Doom worked with Doctor Strange to try and free her soul from Mephisto’s realm. That story is famous among comic fans, and it could give Marvel a reason to bring Mephisto back for at least a cameo in that movie.

Whether it’s in Spider-Man’s next film, an Avengers movie, or somewhere else, fans can expect more of Marvel’s devil soon. Kevin Feige has made that much clear.
