Kevin Feige Shares Positive News About Chris Hemsworth’s MCU Comeback

Chris Hemsworth is set to return as Thor in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, which will hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Following that, Avengers: Secret Wars is planned for December 17, 2027.

However, Marvel hasn’t shared any official plans about what will happen to Thor or Hemsworth’s role after those films.

Kevin Feige recently talked about the future of the MCU, and he did mention Thor. Kevin Feige believes Chris Hemsworth is still in his prime to continue playing Thor in the future of the MCU.

He said, “Where we have great actors playing great characters, I think it would be fun to see them in multiple places.” This suggests that Marvel wants to keep actors like Hemsworth involved for as long as it makes sense.

There was also talk about recasting some of the classic heroes like Iron Man or Captain America. Feige said that while some recasts are expected in the long run, especially with franchises like X-Men, he still sees actors like Hemsworth as being in their prime. He also appreciates when actors who played Marvel roles in the past, like Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Stern in Captain America: Brave New World, come back to the franchise.

Fans have been discussing whether Hemsworth’s message hints that he might be saying goodbye or preparing to wrap up his time as Thor soon.

Meanwhile, rumors about Thor 5 have been floating around for almost a year. Some say the new Thor movie will have a darker tone, and there was even talk of Gareth Edwards potentially directing it.

According to insiders from HolyField News, production on Thor 5 could start in late 2025. This new movie might take Thor back to Valhalla, where he could gain new powers. Fans are also excited about the rumored appearance of Beta Ray Bill, a popular character from the comics.

It’s important to note that Taika Waititi, who directed Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, is not expected to be involved in this next Thor film.
