Kevin Spacey Quietly Settles Sexual Assault Lawsuits Before London Court Showdown
Kevin Spacey has reached an out-of-court settlement with three men who had filed sexual assault lawsuits against him, according to BBC News. The planned civil trial at London’s High Court, set for October 2026, will no longer move forward following the settlement.
The allegations date back between 2000 and 2013. During that time, Spacey served as the artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London from 2004 to 2013. He has consistently denied all claims of sexual misconduct.
One of the accusers claimed that Spacey “deliberately assaulted” him on 12 occasions between 2000 and 2005. Another alleged he “suffered psychiatric damage and financial loss” after an incident in 2008. That case was first filed in 2022 but was paused when criminal charges were brought against the actor. Spacey was later acquitted of nine s**** offense charges in a separate London trial in July 2023.
Ruari Cannon, who waived his right to anonymity, was one of the participants in the 2024 Channel 4 documentary Spacey Unmasked. Cannon appeared in a 2013 production of Sweet Bird of Youth at the Old Vic and alleged that Spacey groped him at a post-performance party.
Cannon described Spacey’s behavior as “like a shark,” adding that he quickly “moved into press mode” in front of cameras. Spacey responded to the allegation in the documentary as “ridiculous and it never happened.”
After the documentary aired, Spacey posted on X: “Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.” He has admitted to “being too handsy” in the past but maintains he has never groped anyone.
This development brings a pause to the long-running legal battles against the actor, highlighting how high-profile cases can unfold over years with overlapping civil and criminal proceedings.
This settlement underscores how drawn-out legal disputes can leave both the public and the accused in a state of uncertainty for years. While Spacey has avoided further courtroom battles for now, these cases remain a significant part of his public narrative.
