‘Kill Jackie’ Star Catherine Zeta-Jones (57) Steps Out All Smiles After Michael Douglas’ Revealing Memoir Hits Shelves
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have been one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples for decades. The pair first met at the Deauville American Film Festival in France in 1998, share a birthday exactly 25 years apart, and are parents to 2 children, Dylan and Carys.
Their marriage hasn’t always been smooth sailing. The couple briefly separated in August 2013 before reconciling a year later, and now Douglas has told his side of their story in a memoir titled ‘One Helluva Ride’, published on October 6.
Just 2 days after the memoir hit shelves, Zeta-Jones was photographed out in New York on Thursday, October 8, in what appeared to be her first public sighting since its release. The 57-year-old looked relaxed and unbothered as she strolled through Manhattan.
She chose a sleek all-black ensemble for the outing. Zeta-Jones paired a sheer black knit top with glossy leather leggings and pointed black heels, finishing the look with dark sunglasses and a black quilted handbag.
Her long dark hair fell in voluminous waves as she smiled for photographers. She gave no indication that the attention surrounding her husband’s tell-all was weighing on her. The outing coincided with an appearance on ‘Today’ the same morning. Host Willie Geist, who had interviewed Douglas the day before, asked whether it was true that she hadn’t read the book yet.
Zeta-Jones explained that her busy work schedule had left little time for reading. Still, she encouraged fans to pick it up, saying “everyone should hold on to their cowboy hats,” as she told Today, adding that she believes the title fits.
Geist also shared that Douglas came home one night, peeked around the corner, and was relieved to find his wife didn’t seem upset. Zeta-Jones laughed it off, joking that he had simply caught her at a good time.

The book has attracted plenty of attention for its accounts of Douglas’ earlier years in Hollywood. It discusses relationships during a time when he was separated from his first wife, Diandra Luker, including affairs with actresses Kathleen Turner and Jeanne Tripplehorn.
Zeta-Jones gets her own chapter, appropriately titled “Catherine.” In it, Douglas recalls seeing her for the first time in ‘The Mask of Zorro’ and falling for her on screen before crossing paths with her in Deauville while promoting ‘A Perfect Murder’.
He also writes that, early in their relationship, she asked him to commit to her exclusively. Douglas told The Sunday Times that his wife hadn’t been given early access to the manuscript.

Zeta-Jones has plenty keeping her occupied. The ‘Wednesday’ star is in the middle of a promotional run for her new AMC+ revenge thriller ‘Kill Jackie’, which she presented at New York Comic Con alongside showrunner Tom Butterworth and executive producer Peter Lawson.

During her ‘Today’ visit, co-host Ana Navarro said the chapter about the couple’s first meeting brought tears to her eyes. Zeta-Jones joked that perhaps she should read it when she gets home.

She has, however, confirmed one romantic detail from the book. Zeta-Jones has said that Douglas told her at their very first meeting that he would one day be the father of her children, a prediction that clearly came true.
