News of Killing Eve being removed from Hulu didn’t go down well with many fans because the spy thriller was so popular on the platform. The show’s last two seasons were not the best, but the entire four seasons still made one of the best bingeing opportunities for Hulu subscribers. Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh make the perfect anti-hero duo in the spy thriller, and fans can’t understand why Killing Eve will no longer be available on Hulu.

There was no formal announcement from the streaming platform, but subscribers noticed notifications that all episodes of Killing Eve would expire on June 20, 2023. True to their word, the platform ceased streaming all four seasons of the show on the said date, leaving many subscribers with no way to watch it. The license agreement for airing the show is believed to have expired in June 2023, leading to its removal from Hulu.

It is now difficult for many fans to find a single streaming platform where they can watch all four seasons of Killing Eve outside of Hulu. Unlike other shows, which tend to have a phased removal starting with the oldest seasons, Hulu removed all the seasons instantly, leaving fans who hadn’t finished watching in the dark. However, the removal doesn’t mean the end for Killing Eve fans because there are other ways to watch it, so let’s delve into it.

When was Killing Eve removed from Hulu?

Villanelle and Eve Polastri

All episodes of Killing Eve stopped streaming on Hulu on June 20, 2023, after an expiry notification that lasted for nearly a month on the platform.

The instant removal of the show’s episodes was a shocker for many fans since all episodes had been streaming on Hulu since the first season in 2018.

Sid Gentle Films produced the show for BBC America and BBC Three, who control the distribution rights.

The first season, which had the most views on Hulu, introduces Eve Polastri’s (Sandra Oh) first meeting with Villanelle (Jodie Comer).

Polastri is an MI5 agent tired of her desk job with a condescending boss from which she gets fired after disobeying direct orders.

She joins an MI6 unit to investigate a string of high-profile assassinations she believes are committed by a female assassin which he former bosses wouldn’t allow her to pursue.

She eventually meets the assassin, but instead of arresting her, the two develop a complicated romantic relationship.

Polastri later realizes that both herself and the assassin are just pawns in a large conspiracy orchestrated by the higher-ups in the UK and Russian governments.

Each season of the show was written by a different female writer, with Phoebe Waller-bridge’s first season receiving the best ratings.

Despite declining popularity for the two final seasons, the show continued to be one of the most streamed on Hulu, so many never anticipated its removal.

Why was Killing Eve removed from Hulu?

The exact reason for the removal of Killing Eve from Hulu hasn’t been communicated, but we believe it is because of the expiration of contact with BBC.

The show, which has been on the platform for over five years, retained high viewing numbers, so poor performance is an unlikely cause.

The show was still in the top 10 most viewed shows on the platform as of June 20th, when it was removed.

The show’s removal from the platform also makes it harder to watch, especially for American viewers.

However, Hulu didn’t give an official explanation for the drastic decision and treated it as a regular expiration of episodes on the platform, so our theories are just speculations.

Where else can you stream Killing Eve?
