Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Co-Parenting Challenges With Kanye West
Kim Kardashian recently opened up about the challenges of co-parenting with her ex-husband Kanye West during an interview with Alex Cooper on the podcast Call Her Daddy.
The reality star, who was married to West from 2014 to 2021, shares four children with him: North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.
The conversation covered a wide range of topics, including Kardashian’s relationships with her sisters and her famous moments on social media and television.
She shared stories about family dynamics, her costly beauty routine, and even her upcoming law career. “I don’t really care to have my bachelor’s degree. I just want my law degree,” she said.
But much of the discussion naturally turned to West. Kardashian reflected on their relationship and the difficulties of navigating co-parenting.
“What do you think co-parenting with Kanye West is like? It’s not easy,” she told Cooper. She explained that she now raises their children full-time, though she encourages a healthy relationship with West whenever possible. “I welcome a great healthy relationship with my kids and their dad, and I think he knows that, I push for it all the time,” she said.
Despite her efforts, she admitted that contact with West can be inconsistent. “It’s probably been a couple months since we’ve heard from him,” she said. Kardashian also addressed rumors that she keeps the children from West, saying she has never done that. “The one thing that just gets me is that there’s this narrative that, like, I keep the kids away from him. I’ve never once done that,” she explained.
Kardashian also shared how she manages the tension created by public claims and social media posts. She revealed that she often drafts messages and posts she never sends to avoid unnecessary conflict.
“There has been so many times where I’ve written a draft and been like, ‘I’m gonna go,’ and then I’m just like, what’s the point? You know, what is the point? Am I gonna go back and forth? My kids are gonna see this,” she said.
She admitted that comments about her children or her family are what affect her the most. “I don’t care what you say about the world and your beliefs…but what Kardashian will not take is discussion of her children,” she said.
While currently single, Kardashian said she has thought about a future marriage. She even discussed designing a wedding dress with the late Thierry Mugler. “I was starting to have Manfred Thierry Mugler design a wedding dress. I just wanted it in my archive of like what I would wear,” she explained.
She also joked about what kind of partner she might seek next, ruling out another rapper or athlete. “I think we’re going, like, lawyers and longevity scientists that can give me all their secrets,” she said.
It’s clear that Kardashian is focused on her children and her own goals while navigating the complex relationship with West.
