Kim Kardashian has revealed that she did not pass the California Bar Exam, saying she came very close to earning a passing score.

The reality star and businesswoman shared the news with fans on Instagram, vowing to keep working toward her goal of becoming a lawyer.

“I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” she wrote, referencing her role in the legal drama All’s Fair. Kardashian added that despite the setback, she remains fully committed to her legal studies. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination,” she said.

Kardashian explained that missing the passing mark was disappointing but motivating. “Falling short isn’t failure — it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivates me even more,” she continued.

The reality star has been studying law since 2018 through a California apprenticeship program, which allows aspiring lawyers to train under licensed attorneys instead of attending traditional law school. She worked with a San Francisco law firm and completed her apprenticeship earlier this year.

Her passion for criminal justice reform began years ago when she helped advocate for clemency for Alice Marie Johnson, a woman serving a life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense. Johnson’s release in 2018 sparked Kardashian’s deeper interest in the legal system. Since then, she has supported reform campaigns such as “90 Days to Freedom,” which has helped free several inmates serving long sentences for similar offenses. She has also backed bipartisan efforts like the First Step Act, which aims to reduce harsh prison sentences for first-time offenders.

The interest in law also runs in her family. Her late father, Robert Kardashian, was a well-known attorney who gained national attention as part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team in the 1990s.

This isn’t Kardashian’s first setback in her legal journey.

She previously failed the “baby bar,” a California exam for first-year law students who study outside accredited law schools, three times before finally passing it on her fourth attempt in 2021. “I failed this exam three times in two years, but I got back up each time and studied harder,” she said at the time, celebrating her success on Instagram.

Despite this latest challenge, Kardashian’s determination remains strong. She says she plans to continue studying and take the full bar exam again in the future.
