Kim Kardashian made a dramatic entrance at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday night, arriving with her entire face covered by a sleek couture mask.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, Kardashian revealed that her outfit was “Margiela couture” by designer Glenn Martens. She explained that she had flown in her favorite makeup artist from New York and had full hair and makeup underneath the mask.

“This is kind of a last-minute thing, so I’m sure he’s not so happy with it,” she said. Kardashian also mentioned that she planned to remove the mask once inside the gala.

The star connected the look to her own brand, saying, “It does look very Skims-y. That’s why I was drawn to it when the Margiela couture show came out. I saw this look and I was like, ‘That is so Skims to me.’” It remains unclear whether she wore the mask during the gala’s dinner and program.

The 2025 gala honored Penélope Cruz, Walter Salles, Bruce Springsteen, and Bowen Yang, among others. The event, presented by Rolex, raises support for the museum’s exhibitions, screenings, and educational programs.

This year’s Gala Host Committee featured a long list of stars, including Amy Adams, Judd Apatow, Gael García Bernal, Laura Dern, Colman Domingo, Willem Dafoe, Goldie Hawn, Oscar Isaac, Zoë Kravitz, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lupita Nyong’o, Jenna Ortega, Winona Ryder, Chloë Sevigny, Tessa Thompson, and Rachel Zegler.
