Kit Harington (39) Shows Smoldering Charm at ‘Psychopomp’ Premiere, Proving He’s Still a Heartthrob 15 Years After ‘Game of Thrones’
Kit Harington showed a new side of himself this week at the Manchester Film Festival, stepping into the spotlight as a director for the first time. The actor, best known for his role in Game of Thrones, attended the premiere of his short film Psychopomp at Aviva Studios, celebrating his debut behind the camera.
Harington looked relaxed but polished on the red carpet. He wore a charcoal gray blazer with thin pinstripes, a black crewneck t-shirt, and light blue jeans. Black suede Chelsea boots and a silver watch finished the look. His hair stayed in its natural dark curls, and he kept a well-groomed beard.
I am not ready to put on my big girl clothes yet, Harington joked in a recent interview, showing his usual humor, even as he confidently presented his first directorial work. He spent much of the night interacting with fans and seemed genuinely excited to share his creative vision.
Psychopomp is a dark comedy that Harington both wrote and directed. The story follows Harry, played by Harry Melling, who hires an assassin to end his life. But instead of a simple job, the two form an unexpected connection. The short film was shot in Northern England, using the Yorkshire moors to create a moody, atmospheric backdrop.
The emotional gravity of it kind of caught me by surprise, Harington said when discussing the shift from acting to directing. He explained that the project allowed him to explore themes of life, death, and human connection in a new way. The film also stars Ciarán Owens as the assassin Liam and was shot by cinematographer Fabian Wagner. Festival attendees have described Psychopomp as clever, darkly funny, and thought-provoking.
Harington has stayed busy outside of directing. He recently appeared in the Gothic horror movie The Dreadful alongside Sophie Turner, which hit theaters in February. He also impressed audiences in the third season of the show Industry, playing tech mogul Sir Henry Muck. On top of that, he is set to star in the upcoming Hulu limited series Count My Lies, working with Lindsay Lohan and Shailene Woodley.
Fans are excited to see Harington expanding his career beyond acting. From epic fantasy battles in Game of Thrones to intimate, dark comedy sets, his work continues to evolve. The Manchester premiere showed that he is ready to take on new challenges and tell his own stories.
