‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Stars Make Live TV Debut With Hit Song ‘Golden’
Huntr/x made a big splash on late-night TV this week, performing the hit song “Golden” live for the first time on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show.”
The group provides the singing voices for Netflix’s animated hit “KPop Demon Hunters,” a movie that tells the story of a K-pop supergroup who secretly battle demons while managing their pop star lives. EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami perform the vocals for the characters Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, originally voiced by Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo.
Since its release on June 20, the film has become Netflix’s most-watched title, surpassing “Red Notice” with 236 million views by late August. Directed by Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang, the movie combines action, music, and comedy, which seems to have resonated with audiences around the world.
During the sit-down portion of their appearance, Fallon shared the exciting news that the soundtrack for “KPop Demon Hunters” had gone platinum. “The KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack logged a second non-consecutive week at No. 1, highlighting the group’s massive popularity. The soundtrack racked up 102,000 equivalent album units in the latest week, including 117 million on-demand streams.

The single “Golden” has also made chart history. In September, it became the longest-running No. 1 song by an animated act on the Billboard Hot 100, holding the top spot for five straight weeks. Other tracks from the soundtrack, “Your Idol,” “Soda Pop,” and “How It’s Done,” also landed in the Hot 100 top ten.
Huntr/x’s rise didn’t stop with Fallon. On October 4, the group performed an abbreviated version of “Golden” on “Saturday Night Live” alongside host and musical guest Bad Bunny. During the skit, Bad Bunny played an enthusiastic superfan of the fictional girl group, adding a fun twist to the live performance.
It’s clear that “KPop Demon Hunters” is not just a hit movie but also a cultural phenomenon, with its music making waves both on streaming platforms and in live performances.
