‘Kraven the Hunter’ Director Hints at Featuring a Host of Marvel Characters
Kraven the Hunter is set to be released this year as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. After the disappointing performance of Madame Web, expectations for this film are relatively low.
The story centers on one of Spider-Man’s most famous villains, Kraven the Hunter. While details about the plot remain sparse, there are indications that it may adapt the iconic Kraven’s Last Hunt storyline.
At this year’s NYCC, director J.C. Chandor presented the film and hinted at plenty of thrilling elements for fans, including a brutal storyline and the inclusion of “many Marvel characters.”
“We built some set pieces and some action pieces that I’m super proud of…it’s not just Kraven. We’ve got the opportunity to really dive into the Marvel characters here.
Chandor showcased the film’s opening to the audience, which includes a scene of Kraven engaged in a human hunt within a prison. One attendee characterized the sequence as “grounded, violent, and charismatic,” noting the Russian dialogue and the guards’ poor marksmanship.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson was also in attendance and referred to Kraven as an “apex predator.”
He’s an apex predator, the top of the food chain. Kraven’s a hunter, not a poacher. Like every hunter knows, sometimes you have to cull the herd to preserve order. Of course, when he starts applying that to human beings, it becomes a pretty dark story.

The second clip highlighted a series of brutal kills, utilizing methods such as a bear trap, axe, and tree stump. Following the presentation, Taylor-Johnson took photos with director Chandor and several cosplayers portraying Kraven the Hunter.
Kraven the Hunter is scheduled for release on December 13, 2024. If you have any thoughts to share, let us know in the comments below!
