Kraven The Hunter: Filming Officially Started, First On-Set Footage Surfaces
After two Venom movies and the Morbius movie that is set to be released in less than two weeks, Sony and Marvel Entertainment are now actively working on the fourth movie of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) — Kraven the Hunter, which is set to be released in theaters on January 13, 2023.
After Spider-Man joined Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War, Sony decided to make its own Marvel franchise focused on characters for which they still have movie rights. The universe kicked off in 2018 with Venom starring Tom Hardy, and although it received mixed to negative reviews, it grossed $856 million, which was enough to start the franchise.
Morbius was supposed to be the second movie in the universe, but due to the pandemic of COVID-19 it was delayed several times, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage was released in a meantime as the second movie, while Morbius will be released on April 1 this year as the third movie of the franchise. Next year, Kraven the Hunter will join the franchise, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing the titular role.
Filming of the fourth SSU movie began yesterday, and we already got some rough footage from the movie’s set:
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played the role of Quicksilver in the MCU movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, now joined another Marvel movie, in which he will play the titular role. The movie is also starring Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola, Russell Crowe, Fred Hechinger, and Ariana DeBose.
Directed by J. C. Chandor, Kraven the Hunter is set to be released in theaters on January 13, 2022.
