Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad Land Massive Deals to Return for ‘Frozen’ 3 and 4
Disney’s Frozen franchise is moving ahead with two more films, and the main stars are returning with record-setting paydays.
TheWrap reports that Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad have each agreed to deals worth more than $60 million to voice their characters again in Frozen 3 and Frozen 4. Outlet describes these contracts as some of the largest ever offered in animation.
TheWrap also says Jennifer Lee, who directed the first two movies, will be back in the director’s chair. Disney has been planning to continue the series for a while, especially since the first two films became massive global hits.
The second movie earned over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office, following the huge success of the original film. Because the characters Anna, Elsa and Olaf are so tied to the voices behind them, Disney pushed to secure all three actors for the next chapters.
Sources said that the new agreements include upfront payments and bonus money based on how well each movie performs. The deals are much bigger than what the actors made for the previous film.
An executive close to the negotiations said that the payments will roll out over several years, saying the upfront amount is around $20 million per actor, with the rest connected to box office results.
It should be noted that Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed in early 2023 that another Frozen film was on the way. The studio later shifted the release date, and Frozen 3 is now set to arrive in theaters on November 24, 2027.
