That includes Mia LaPierre, the wine-loving assassin known as Lady Vengeance, whose story seemed to wrap up in the most permanent way possible.
Krysten Ritter played Mia across three episodes as a special guest star, and her chemistry with Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan made her one of season one’s most talked about additions. Rather than putting her on his table like most of the killers he crosses paths with, Dexter initially befriended Mia after learning she specifically targeted sexual predators who had escaped legal justice. Now ScreenRant has confirmed exactly what fans have spent months speculating about. A new set image has revealed that the fan favorite villain will return in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ season 2. The photo, shared by executive producer Scott Reynolds, shows him standing alongside Ritter on the New York set, all but confirming that Lady Vengeance is walking back into Dexter’s orbit.
Rather than killing Mia herself, Dexter had her quietly arrested once he discovered she lacked a code for who she chose to kill. From there, Uma Thurman’s Charley, Prater’s head of security, arranged for Mia to be killed in a way that made her death look like a suicide, ensuring she couldn’t expose the secret society. It was framed as a clean, closed chapter, which made the season one finale feel especially final for her arc.
Except newer set photos suggest the show isn’t leaning on flashbacks or hallucinations to bring her back. Photos show Ritter in character as Mia meeting Dexter at a restaurant in broad daylight, with nothing in the scene suggesting she’s a figment of his imagination the way Harry or Debra have been in the past. That has fans increasingly convinced Mia faked her death to escape justice all along, a theory many had floated for nearly a year.
Ritter’s return lands just weeks after she stepped back into another iconic role, reprising Jessica Jones in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 2, and it adds her to a growing list of season one survivors and returnees. She joins other returning faces like James Remar as Harry Morgan and Jack Alcott as Harrison, now reportedly seen as a police officer following a time jump into the present day. She’s also reuniting with Thurman’s Charley, whose own comeback was confirmed earlier this year.
Newcomers are stacking up too, with Brian Cox joining as Don Framt, the New York Ripper, and Dan Stevens as Owen Stark, the Five Borough Killer who taunts police much like the Zodiac Killer.
