Las Vegas Open Reveals Epic Warhammer Armies: Emperor’s Children and Soulblight Gravelords New Line Steal the Show!

This weekend, thousands of wargaming fans have gathered at the Las Vegas Open, one of the largest conventions for the hobby in the United States. While most of the event is about playing games, Games Workshop often uses it to show off upcoming products for its most popular games.
The Emperor’s Children and Soulblight Gravelords took center stage as Games Workshop shared new plans for Warhammer 40K and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.
They announced two new army boxes—one for Warhammer 40K and one for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The Emperor’s Children, a faction of Chaos Space Marines devoted to the Chaos god Slaanesh, will finally get a new set of miniatures along with a new army box.
The Soulblight Gravelords, on the other hand, are expanding with more skeleton-themed units, including Barrow Knights and Barrow Guard, available in the Deathrattle army box. Release dates for these sets haven’t been shared yet, but they should be available in the next few months.
Here’s what’s coming:
The Emperor’s Children
- New Noise Marine models.
- A new Lord Kakophonist model (Noise Marine commander).
- A new Lord Exultant model.
- New melee units called Flawless Blades.
- Space Marines that can be built as either melee-focused Infractors or ranged Tormentors.
- A refreshed miniature for Lucius, the leader of the Emperor’s Children.
For Warhammer: Age of Sigmar (Soulblight Gravelords):
- A new mounted Wight King model.
- New Barrow Guard and mounted Barrow Knight miniatures in the Deathrattle box.
- A massive new vampire miniature, Vhodrai on a revenant dracolith, with a 160 mm base and huge lance.
- A new Vampire Lord on Nightmare Steed model.
Both factions are receiving exciting updates, with refreshed miniatures and new units adding variety to their armies.
Warhammer 40K will focus next on Chaos Space Marine chapters, followed by releases for Grey Knights, Space Wolves, Salamanders, Black Templars, Imperial Knights, and Chaos Knights. For Age of Sigmar, Idoneth Deepkin and Nighthaunt will release later this year, with Blades of Khorne, Kharadron Overlords, and Flesh-Eater Courts coming afterward. A new Age of Sigmar faction, likely featuring Chaos Dwarves, was also teased.
