Later: Lucy Liu Will Star In The Adaptation Of Stephen King’s 2021 Novel

How many Stephen King’s novels were adapted into either movies or TV shows is almost impossible to count. And still, there are some which were never been adapted, yet. One of them is Later, one of King’s newest novels, which was first published in March of 2021.

It is not even a year since it was originally published, and the adaptation is already in development. According to DeadlineElementary star Lucy Liu is set to star in the limited series based on Stephen King’s Later. Blumhouse Television is developing the project, and Raelle Tucker, writer of True Blood and Jessica Jones is set to write the script for the pilot episode.

If you don’t know a thing about Stephen King’s Later, you can check the official description here:

“The son of a struggling single mother, Jamie Conklin just wants an ordinary childhood. But Jamie is no ordinary child. Born with an unnatural ability his mom urges him to keep secret, Jamie can see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn. But the cost of using this ability is higher than Jamie can imagine-as he discovers when an NYPD detective draws him into the pursuit of a killer who has threatened to strike from beyond the grave. Later is Stephen King at his finest, a terrifying and touching story of innocence lost and the trials that test our sense of right and wrong. With echoes of King’s classic novel It, Later is a powerful, haunting, unforgettable exploration of what it takes to stand up to evil in all the faces it wears.”Stephen King’s official website

Author Stephen King and producer Jason Blum both expressed their excitement about working together on this project:

“I’ve wanted to work with Jason Blum for years, and now we have two projects together [Firestarter and Later]. Go, me!” — Stephen King

“I’ve wanted to work with Stephen King since before I was born which sounds impossible until you remember that it’s Stephen King.” — Jason Blum

Another project that King and Blum are developing together — Firestarter — wrapped production last year. The release date is still TBA.
