Latest Showcase Reveals How Galactus Will Arrive on Earth in Fantastic Four: First Steps, And It’s Absolutely Wild

The 2025 Fantastic Four movie is finally giving fans a look at how Galactus will show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s pretty terrifying. In the upcoming film, directed by Matt Shakman and titled The Fantastic Four: First Step, we’re not just meeting Marvel’s First Family for the first time in the MCU, but also one of the biggest and scariest villains from the comics.
So far, Marvel has only given fans small hints about how this giant space villain will appear. But in a new interview with Empire Magazine, director Matt Shakman dropped some creepy new details. According to what he said, Reed Richards finds out about Galactus after noticing something really strange in space.
In a scene that was shown to Empire, Reed is looking at holographic star charts and points out a spot where a planet used to be.
“This is Proxima Delphi. A system with a planet similar to our own. Which, as you can see… is now gone.”
That’s how the team first discovers that something, or someone, is going around wiping out entire planets. And it doesn’t take long for Reed to figure out that whatever destroyed Proxima Delphi might be heading their way next.
Talking about what it was like to bring Galactus into the movie, Shakman said:
“Directing something of this scale. You’re always looking at it from the three-inch view and the 30,000-foot view.”
Basically, he’s saying it’s a massive challenge. Galactus isn’t your everyday bad guy. He’s a god-like figure who travels across space, judging planets and eating the ones he thinks don’t matter anymore. That’s a pretty big idea to put on the big screen, and it sounds like Marvel is going all in.
From what Shakman shared, it looks like the movie will show just how powerful Galactus really is, right from the start. His arrival isn’t going to be teased or held back. He shows up with full force, and that’s how the Fantastic Four gets pulled into this huge cosmic threat.
Even though there’s still a lot we don’t know, one thing is clear, Galactus will not be a background character. He’s coming to make an impact, and it’s going to change everything for the heroes and maybe even the whole MCU.
