Leak Suggests ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Will Share a Major Villain with ‘Kraven the Hunter’
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the next big Spider-Man movie coming out in 2026, and fans are already buzzing about some new details from the set. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker and is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
It’s set to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six and will continue the story after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Filming started in Glasgow, Scotland, in August 2025, where the crew has been turning city streets into a believable New York setting.
One of the most exciting things revealed from the shoot is a hint that the classic Spider-Man villain, the Rhino, might be making an appearance. Paul Trainer of Glasgow World spotted a unique tank vehicle on set, along with another custom-built vehicle that had a large rhino head shape on the front.
This caught the attention of fans and reporters, as the Rhino is a well-known enemy of Spider-Man in the comics.
The Rhino, whose real name is Aleksei Sytsevich, started out as a low-level Russian thug who underwent a dangerous experiment to gain super strength and durability. This procedure attached an almost indestructible suit of armor to his body, giving him a rhino-like look and powerful abilities.
While he’s strong and tough, the Rhino is often seen as a tragic character, someone torn between his criminal life and his wish to be respected and live better. Over the years, Spider-Man and the Rhino have had many fights, but sometimes the Rhino shows a more complicated side and acts like an antihero.
This character isn’t new to the screen either. Aleksei Sytsevich was played by Paul Giamatti in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), and there were plans for him to come back in a third film that never happened. More recently, a version of Rhino appeared in the 2024 SSU spin-off, Kraven the Hunter, played by Alessandro Nivola. With these new set details, it looks like the Rhino might be stepping into the MCU for the first time in Brand New Day.
According to set photos and reports, filming in Glasgow included detailed street setups to make it feel like New York City, complete with American flags, hot dog stands, and even taco trucks. The production has been careful to recreate the city’s vibe, and the big vehicle chase scenes look to be a major part of the action.
With the Rhino possibly joining the story, fans are eager to see how this powerful villain will fit into the new Spider-Man adventure. As always, the character’s mix of raw power and deeper emotions could make for some exciting moments on screen.
