LEGO Ideas Godzilla Box Leaks in Store Ahead of Black Friday, Revealing a Massive King of the Monsters Build
The King of the Monsters is about to take over a lot of display shelves. Ever since LEGO confirmed that a fan-designed Godzilla had been picked for its LEGO Ideas program, collectors have been waiting for a first proper look at the final set.
The project began with fan designer MattE720, also known as Matthew Esposito. He first submitted his Godzilla in 2023, then resubmitted it in 2024 after a rules change opened the door to larger set ideas, and it went on to reach the 10,000 supporters needed for official review.
Now fans have their clearest look yet. Brick Tap shared photos of the upcoming 21375 Godzilla box, found in store by one of its members, along with details of when the set will be released.
According to Brick Tap, the set launches on Black Friday, November 27. Early buyers will also receive the 40888 Godzilla Footprint as a gift with purchase while supplies last. The front of the box shows the towering monster with glowing blue dorsal plates, along with the LEGO Ideas branding, an 18+ age rating, and a piece count of 5,363. Brick Tap lists the price at $450 USD.
The back of the box gives more detail on how the build works. It shows the head tilting back to fire a blue atomic breath beam, along with a cinematic image of the creature looming in deep blue water.

Rumor site Stonewars had previously reported that the model would feature a poseable head and a removable atomic breath piece, much like the original fan design. It also reported that the build could stand between 55 and 60 centimeters tall, though LEGO has not officially confirmed the size.
The design takes inspiration from Legendary’s MonsterVerse, specifically the look of the creature in ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ and ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’. That explains the bright blue spikes that stand out on the box art.
If the box details hold, this will be a huge release for the LEGO Ideas line. Stonewars reported that the piece count would make it the largest LEGO Ideas set ever, surpassing the River Steamboat.

That’s a big step up from the original fan submission. The fan model was estimated at roughly 2,500 to 3,000 pieces, so the final build appears to have nearly doubled in size during development.
The gift with purchase is a nice bonus for early buyers. Stonewars previously reported that the Godzilla Footprint would include a printed Mothra tile, a fun nod to another of the monster’s famous co-stars.
LEGO announced the Godzilla project’s approval in June 2025 as part of its Third 2024 LEGO Ideas Review. The Review Board considered 54 qualifying ideas that had each reached 10,000 supporters, and Godzilla was chosen alongside a Tintin space rocket.

At the time, LEGO said Esposito would work with its designers to create the final version. The company kept details quiet for months, and the official LEGO page only joked that the set would probably not be as big as the real Godzilla.
With the release just weeks away, collectors finally have a good idea of what to expect. Stonewars also reported that LEGO planned a Black Friday reveal livestream for November 3, which could bring the set’s official unveiling.
For Godzilla fans and LEGO collectors alike, this looks like one of the most ambitious builds of the holiday season. It may be a while before anything else in the LEGO Ideas line comes close to this one.
