Lily Collins Steps Into Audrey Hepburn’s Iconic Heels for ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ Making-Of Movie
Lily Collins is preparing to play one of Hollywood’s most admired stars. She has signed on to portray Audrey Hepburn in a new film that will explore how Breakfast at Tiffany’s was made.
The project will not retell the famous love story. Instead, it will focus on what happened behind the camera during the production of the 1961 classic. Collins is also attached as a producer. The film is based on the book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M. by Sam Wasson, which takes a deep look at the movie’s creation and its cultural impact.
The screenplay will be written by Alena Smith, best known for creating the Apple TV+ series Dickinson. A director has not yet been announced.
The original film, adapted from a novella by Truman Capote, followed socialite Holly Golightly and her connection with a writer who moves into her building. The new movie will highlight the tension that surrounded the casting and filming process. Capote had pushed for Marilyn Monroe to play Holly and reportedly felt that Paramount Pictures betrayed him by choosing Hepburn instead.
The story will also bring in real-life figures such as director Blake Edwards and costume designer Edith Head. One moment expected to be covered is a dangerous incident during filming near the flagship store of Tiffany & Co. in New York. Casting for these roles has not been revealed.
Collins shared her feelings about the role on Instagram. She wrote, It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able share this. Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel…
The film is backed by Imagine Entertainment, with producers including Brian Grazer. Several other producers and executives are attached through different production companies.
Collins is widely known for her lead role in Emily in Paris, which has been renewed for a sixth season. She has also appeared in Rules Don’t Apply and Mank.
This film aims to show how a beloved classic came together, including the challenges and disagreements behind the scenes. It will give viewers a closer look at a movie that shaped fashion, film, and pop culture.
