The story is set in a dystopian United States controlled by a totalitarian government. Each year, a group of young men must participate in a walking contest where they are required to maintain a speed of at least three miles per hour. The contest continues until only one walker remains alive, making the stakes deadly high.
Cooper Hoffman plays the main character, Raymond Garraty, while David Jonsson portrays Peter McVries.
Other notable characters include Stebbins, played by Garrett Wareing, Arthur Baker, played by Tut Nyuot, and Gary Barkovitch, played by Charlie Plummer. The film features a large ensemble of actors portraying the other contestants, creating an intense and high-pressure environment for the story.
Lionsgate has set The Long Walk for a United States release on September 12, 2025. The treadmill screening is a unique way for fans to experience the tension and endurance challenges faced by the characters in the film, making it feel almost like a part of the story itself.
With Francis Lawrence at the helm and a strong cast leading the way, The Long Walk is already generating excitement. The treadmill screening adds an unusual twist that blends fitness with cinema, offering fans a one-of-a-kind moviegoing experience.
