Lisa Rinna (62) Turns Heads in a Dress Crafted From 11 Pounds of Human Hair and Took 152 Hours To Create
While the Oscars red carpet was filled with traditional ballgowns and soft pastels, Lisa Rinna chose a much more experimental path. The actress and reality star attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Academy Awards Viewing Party in a gown made entirely of human hair.
This unique dress was crafted from 11 pounds of dark brown locks, creating a texture that was unlike anything else seen during the awards weekend. The dress was a collaboration between designer Christian Cowan and the hair care brand TRESemmé.
It took a dedicated team of 16 people approximately 152 hours to assemble the garment, which featured a structured corset base. Woven layers of hair cascaded from the bodice in varying lengths, making the hair the primary material rather than just a decorative element.

Designer Christian Cowan explained that the goal was to showcase how high-quality hair products could achieve couture-level results. The hair is not the finishing touch of this look—it is the look, he noted in a statement.
He added that the design was meant to celebrate Rinna’s beauty and her own famous history with iconic hairstyles. I wanted to celebrate the beauty of Lisa. She’s a tour de force, Cowan said. She’s so known for her iconic hair, so it felt fun to play with that.
To match the high-drama energy of the gown, Rinna wore her hair in an amplified version of her signature spiky shag. Her stylist, Justine Marjan, explained that they added extra volume to ensure the hair on her head held its own against the sculptural dress.
For a touch of classic sparkle, she added a 41-carat diamond collar necklace and several other multi-carat diamond pieces from De Beers London. Rinna has been significantly expanding her presence in the fashion world since her departure from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2022.
Earlier this year, she made waves at Paris Haute Couture Week, where she opened the show for Germanier and attended several high-profile events like the Stéphane Rolland show. Her transition from reality television to high-fashion runways has surprised many industry insiders and cemented her status as a genuine style influencer.
Fans can also look forward to her appearance on the fourth season of the hit competition series The Traitors, which premiered earlier this year on Peacock. In the world of literature, Rinna released her highly anticipated memoir, You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It, in late February.
The book promises to provide a candid look at her long career in Hollywood, her high-profile relationships, and her experiences in the world of reality TV. She hosts the podcast Let’s Not Talk About the Husband alongside her husband, Harry Hamlin, where the couple shares stories from their life in Beverly Hills.
Rinna’s business ventures, including Rinna Beauty and her wine label, Rinna Wines, continue to thrive as she explores new creative outlets. Between her return to television and her bold appearances at major industry events, she remains one of the most talked-about figures in entertainment this year.
