Logan Paul Agrees to Sell His Record-Breaking Pikachu Illustrator Card for a Record-Breaking Sum
Logan Paul has agreed to sell his rare Pikachu Illustrator Pokémon card, one of the most valuable trading cards ever sold. Paul says the timing feels right, as interest in collectibles continues to grow.
Paul originally bought the card in 2021 for nearly $5.3 million, setting a Guinness World Record for the most expensive Pokémon card sold in a private deal. Now, he has reached an agreement with Ken Goldin, the founder and CEO of Goldin Auctions, to put the card up for sale. Paul received a $2.5 million advance as part of the deal.
The sale is featured in the newest season of Netflix’s King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch, which premiered this week. According to Goldin, the card will be listed through a special auction event on the Goldin Auctions website starting January 12.
Goldin believes the final sale price could land between $7 million and $12 million. Speaking to Bloomberg TV, Paul explained why he decided to move forward now, saying, “The Pokémon market is hot. It’s hotter than it’s ever been. Ken gave me a deal I could not refuse.”
Goldin confirmed that he had previously offered Paul $7.5 million for the card, but the offer was turned down at the time.
He described high-end collectibles as a growing investment space, pointing to changing habits among younger collectors. In the same interview, Goldin said, “It is an alternative asset class,” noting that many fans who grew up with Pokémon now have the money to spend. With Pokémon’s 30th anniversary approaching in 2026, interest is only expected to rise.
Paul, who is both a WWE star and a social media figure, has long been known for his interest in rare collectibles. He first gained fame online alongside his brother Jake Paul through platforms like Vine and YouTube. Jake Paul recently made headlines after losing a boxing match against former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in a bout streamed live on Netflix.
