Amanda Seyfried has never been an easy actress to pin down, and the past year has only proven that further. She closed out 2025 opposite Sydney Sweeney in the psychological thriller ‘The Housemaid’, playing a scheming trophy wife who toys with her new maid.

She then pivoted to one of the most ambitious roles of her career. In Mona Fastvold’s ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’, Seyfried played the 18th-century founder of the Shakers, a leader revered by her followers who preached gender and social equality.

The musical biopic earned glowing reviews after premiering at the Venice Film Festival. Critics praised her performance as fearless, with one outlet calling it a flat-out career best that unleashed all of her strengths at the peak of her talent.

The film itself was a bold experiment, featuring more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns reimagined as rapturous movement, with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall and original music by Oscar winner Daniel Blumberg. Seyfried described it at the premiere as the only script that left her thoroughly confused about what the finished film would look like.

Seyfried brought that same sense of mystery to the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala on October 17 in Los Angeles. The Hollywood Reporter shared a video of her arrival on the carpet.

She wore Prada for the occasion, accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. The strapless gown featured a fitted, structured bodice in a deep, dark hue that flowed into a full, voluminous skirt, which she playfully lifted and swished for the cameras.

Seyfried kept her styling simple, wearing her hair loose with a gentle side part and letting a sparkling necklace add a subtle touch of shine. It was a quieter take on the black dress she wore to the same event last year.

The actress also offered a rare glimpse into her current headspace. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter on the carpet, she described her life right now as interesting and admitted that interviews are tough at the moment for a good reason.

She added that she believes everything happening is meant to happen, and that everyone in her life is meant to be there. Seyfried is reportedly attached to a buzzy project that is being kept under wraps to avoid spoilers. Instead of revealing details, she playfully listed the topics she’d rather chat about. Her suggestions included emus, Halloween, apple pie, olives and really good hard ciders.

The gala raises funds for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, supporting exhibitions, educational programs and public screenings. This year’s edition honored Charlize Theron with the Icon Award, Colman Domingo with the Vantage Award and John Carpenter with the Luminary Award.

Seyfried was one of more than 100 celebrities in attendance, joining a guest list that included Taylor Swift, Jacob Elordi, Kendall Jenner, Pamela Anderson and Andrew Garfield. Swift headlined the evening’s performance, adding to the star power inside.

Seyfried began acting as a teenager and has spent decades building a résumé that spans everything from musicals to thrillers. With ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’, she reminded audiences just how fearless she can be.

Her latest appearance suggests more surprises are on the horizon. Between her elegant Prada gown and her teasing comments, Seyfried left fans eager to learn what secret project is keeping her so busy.
