Macaulay Culkin captured widespread attention this week as he arrived in Paris for the Dior menswear show, showcasing a refreshingly playful and nostalgia-inspired look. The actor donned a crisp white jumper emblazoned with the iconic imagery from Eric Carle’s 1969 children’s classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which he layered over a smart, structured blue shirt.

To round out the quirky ensemble, Culkin chose classic rolled-up blue denim jeans paired with brown, Dior-branded trainers. While the overall outfit was certainly charming, it was the actor’s brightly painted nails that proved to be the most discussed detail of his red-carpet appearance as he posed for photographers in the Jardin des Tuileries.

The actor’s appearance took place during a bittersweet week for the star, who recently shared a poignant tribute following the death of his legendary Home Alone co-star, Catherine O’Hara. Posting on Instagram, he reflected on their enduring bond, writing, Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you.

Culkin has enjoyed a high-profile return to the public eye this year, including a widely celebrated appearance at the Golden Globes in January. It marked his first time attending the ceremony in 35 years, a fact he playfully acknowledged while presenting the award for Best Screenplay.

The now-45-year-old actor delighted the audience by joking about his presence outside of the holiday season, reassuring the crowd that, shockingly, I do exist all year round. In recent years, the star has balanced his status as a cultural icon with a variety of eclectic roles.

He recently appeared in the critically acclaimed streaming series Fallout and provided a voice role in the hit animated sequel Zootopia 2. While he has often humorously described himself as being in a state of perpetual retirement, he remains open to the right opportunities.

He has even shared a creative, hypothetical elevator pitch for a potential Home Alone sequel, suggesting an adult-focused narrative where Kevin McCallister faces off against his own children.

He noted that he wouldn’t be completely allergic to reprising the role, provided the script were just right. Beyond his acting, Culkin continues to engage fans through his popular touring show, A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin. He currently lives a relatively private life with his partner, actress Brenda Song, with whom he shares two children.

Whether he is voicing animated characters or making rare, style-conscious appearances at major fashion events, Culkin remains a beloved figure who seems to be carefully and happily curating his own path in the industry.
