Sony’s Spider-Man Universe started in 2018, and since then, they released three movies that were more misses than hits. Even though all three movies grossed $1.526 billion combined, the movies received mixed to negative reviews. Still, Sony plans to keep it going with their universe separated from Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tom Hardy recently revealed that the script for Venom 3 is finished, but before that, Sony is planning to release two Marvel movies in 2023 — Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web. The former, starring Avengers: Age of Ultron star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, is currently in production, and the latter is set to begin production soon.

Previously, Dakota Johnson joined the upcoming movie Madame Web and she’s set to play a titular role. Additionally, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney also joined the movie in an undisclosed role. Now, Emma Roberts also joined the movie in an undisclosed role, Deadline has learned.

The movie will also star Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, and Tahar Rahim. S.J. Clarkson is set to direct the movie from the screenplay written by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless, the same duo who wrote Morbius. Let’s hope they’ll do a better job with this movie.

Madame Web is set to be released on July 7, 2023.
