Madonna Joins the ‘Nicole Kidman’ TikTok Craze, Giving AdéLa’s Viral Hit a Queen of Pop Seal of Approval
Every so often, a song takes over TikTok so completely that even the biggest stars can’t resist it. This fall, that song is “Nicole Kidman” by ADÉLA, the Slovak singer whose glamorous tribute to old-school movie-star energy has become one of the year’s breakout pop moments.
ADÉLA, born Adéla Jergová in Bratislava, first gained attention as a contestant on ‘The Debut: Dream Academy’, the competition that formed the girl group KATSEYE and was featured in Netflix’s ‘Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE’. She was eliminated from the group competition, a moment she later called a blessing in disguise, and went on to build a solo career.
Now the Queen of Pop herself has joined in. Madonna posted a new TikTok set to “Nicole Kidman” on Thursday, October 15, giving ADÉLA’s hit a major co-sign from one of the artists she most admires.
Rather than recreating the dance trend, Madonna went for pure attitude. Wearing a gold satin strapless dress with her dark hair styled up, she appeared to be getting ready for a formal event as she gave the camera a sultry look while the song played.
She captioned the clip with a line from the track’s chorus, a playful nod that fans quickly picked up on. Pop Crave’s repost of the video racked up hundreds of thousands of views within hours.

Billboard framed the clip as another stamp of approval from an established pop star as the song continues its chart run. For ADÉLA, who has named Madonna alongside Lady Gaga and Beyoncé among the pop icons she looks up to, the moment carries extra weight.
ADÉLA wrote the song after a night out that made her feel like a movie star. She had been invited to a Golden Globes event and had just watched ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ for the first time. She has said her corset that night was so tight that she felt like Nicole Kidman in the moment, and the idea grew from there.
The music video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis, recreates looks inspired by Kidman’s films, including ‘Moulin Rouge!’, ‘Birth’ and ‘Babygirl’. There’s even a Madonna connection in the visuals. The video riffs on a milk-licking scene that some commentators trace back to Madonna’s 1989 “Express Yourself” video, which makes her TikTok feel like a fitting full-circle moment.

The song’s namesake has embraced it as well. When asked about ADÉLA at the London premiere of ‘Practical Magic 2’ in August, Kidman said she knew exactly who the singer was and planned to see her perform in Nashville.
Shortly after, Kidman made her own TikTok debut with a video set to ADÉLA’s earlier hit, “Ain’t in LA.” The mutual admiration has only fueled the song’s popularity. The numbers back up the buzz. “Nicole Kidman” peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Global 200, while “Ain’t in LA” sat at No. 5, giving ADÉLA 2 songs in the global top 5 at the same time.
Her debut album, ‘Prima’, arrived on September 4 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. She has also surpassed KATSEYE in monthly Spotify listeners, a striking turn for an artist who was cut from the very competition that formed the group.

Madonna’s TikTok also lands during a busy year for the pop legend. She released ‘Confessions II’ on July 3, her first album in 7 years and a sequel to ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’, featuring Sabrina Carpenter, Stromae, Martin Garrix, Feid and her daughter Lola Leon.
Between Madonna’s support and Kidman’s enthusiasm, ADÉLA has landed co-signs most rising artists can only dream of. If this is how her solo career is starting, the pop world is clearly paying attention.
What do you think of Madonna joining ADÉLA’s viral “Nicole Kidman” TikTok trend?
