The journey into the unknown is reaching its final destination as MGM+ has officially renewed the supernatural hit From for a fifth and final season. The decision concludes the story of the nightmarish town that traps everyone who enters, providing a definitive end for the series led by Harold Perrineau.

Filmed in Halifax, Canada, the production utilizes a custom-built town where inhabitants must survive nocturnal monsters and a forest teeming with existential threats. Fans, known as the “Fromily,” are currently preparing for the premiere of the fourth season on April 19.

Despite being the most-watched series on the platform, creator John Griffin and executive producers Jeff Pinkner and Jack Bender decided that five seasons was the ideal arc for the narrative.

“There was a fair amount of soul-searching,” Griffin admitted regarding the potential for a sixth season, but noted the team realized five was the right time to say goodbye. The production is moving quickly, with the writers’ room already open for the final installment and filming expected to begin this summer in Nova Scotia.

The upcoming fourth season is being billed as the beginning of the end, particularly following the major character shifts at the conclusion of the third season. Executive producer Jeff Pinkner, who has worked on legendary mystery-driven shows like Lost and Fringe, noted that the series succeeds by making the audience care for the trapped residents.

“We’ve designed From to force these characters to suffer, and they have,” Pinkner shared, adding that he is gratified that viewers have stayed through the journey to see who ultimately survives. Harold Perrineau, whose portrayal of Sheriff Boyd Stevens has been the emotional heart of the show, remains one of the most prolific actors in television.

Returning regulars include Catalina Sandino Moreno, David Alpay, and Elizabeth Saunders, who will all be dealing with the fallout of the shocking season three cliffhangers. As the mystery of the lighthouse and the origins of the town finally begin to unravel, the show’s creators promise that the fifth season will provide the long-awaited answers that fans have been seeking since the pilot.
