‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Is Back: Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston Reunite in First Revival Trailer, Release Date Set
Malcolm is back on our screens nearly 20 years later. Hulu has released the first trailer for its revival of the beloved early 2000s sitcom, now called “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair,” and it’s set to premiere on April 10.
The new four-part series follows an adult Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) who has been avoiding his family for over a decade. Things get complicated when his parents, Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), insist he attend their 40th wedding anniversary party. Chaos, naturally, follows.
In the trailer, Muniz jokingly says, “My life is fantastic now. All I had to do was stay away from my family!” But, of course, he can’t stay away for long.
The revival also features Malcolm’s daughter, played by Keeley Karsten, and other returning cast members, including Chris Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Emy Coligado. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark steps in as the new Dewey, while Vaughan Murrae and Kiana Madeira join as new faces in the show.

Linwood Boomer, the creator of the original series, returns as a writer and executive producer. Bryan Cranston, Tracy Katsky, Gail Berman, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann are all executive producers. Ken Kwapis directed all four episodes and also serves as an executive producer, with Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye as co-executive producers. The revival is produced by Disney Branded Television and 20th Television.
The original “Malcolm in the Middle” ran on Fox from 2000 to 2006 for seven seasons and became a fan favorite for its quirky humor and relatable family chaos. Fans now get the chance to see how Malcolm handles adulthood, fatherhood, and family drama in this highly anticipated return.
