Manga PLUS Adds English Version of ‘Captain Tsubasa’ Manga

When it comes to football (soccer) manga, but also sports manga in general, Captain Tsubasa is definitely one of the best-known and most popular titles of all times, which is in part due to the popularity of the old anime series.
Written by Yōichi Takahashi, the original manga first appeared in 1981 and has since received numerous iterations, sequels, and spin-offs, with the most recent manga ending in 2024.
And while the manga is incredibly popular, it hasn’t been available on Shueisha’s popular Manga PLUS service – until now!
Manga PLUS is one of the biggest manga services in the West and its library is one of the biggest ones. It has new and old manga titles, and fans of manga can enjoy a variety of different titles.
And while you’d expect the service to have a title as big as Captain Tsubasa, we have to confirm that you couldn’t find it until now; Shueisha has confirmed, thankfully, that the manga is now available in English on its service.
There is also a bonus – fans of the series will be able to read the manga for free until April 13 Japan time (April 12 at 11:00 a.m. EDT), when it won’t be free anymore, but it will be available for Deluxe subscribers.
This is the first time that the English version is getting a solo release, so we hope that fans will enjoy it!
