Margaret Qualley and Aaron Pierre Share a Sunset Moment in New ‘Love of Your Life’ Clip
Rachel Morrison made her name as an Oscar-nominated cinematographer on ‘Mudbound’ before stepping behind the camera with ‘The Fire Inside’. Her second feature as a director, the romantic drama ‘Love of Your Life’, is now set to reach a global audience on Prime Video.
The film stars Margaret Qualley as Maya, an ER nurse in Boston whose chance encounter with Charlie, played by Gabriel Basso, sparks a sweeping romance. When that future is suddenly upended, Maya is forced to reckon with who she is, what she wants and how to love again.
Now, an exclusive new clip has arrived ahead of the film’s streaming debut, offering a glimpse of Qualley alongside co-star Aaron Pierre. The footage shows the pair walking side by side along a waterfront at sunset, with palm trees and a glowing pink sky stretching over the city behind them.
Pierre plays Felix, a charming British man Maya meets as she begins to embrace the possibility of romance again. Their story takes her from a holiday home in rural Portugal to his life in West London, complete with his young daughter.

The romantic drama begins streaming globally on Prime Video on Wednesday, October 14. It also opened in select US theaters on October 7. Despite this being their first time working together, Pierre has said it was easy to build on-screen chemistry with Qualley. Qualley, meanwhile, has described the film’s story as both heartbreaking and hopeful.
She also praised Morrison’s personal connection to the material. “Rachel, specifically, has been really open about her personal relationship to grief and appreciation for life after grief, so I think that was such a beautiful partnership between story and storyteller,” Qualley said in an interview with TEGNA.
The screenplay was written by Julia Cox, whose previous credits include ‘Nyad’. Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson serve as producers, while Dustin O’Halloran composed the score. The cast also includes Patrick Schwarzenegger as Jason and Catherine Keener as Ruth, alongside Tamara Lawrance and Corey Johnson. The film runs just under 2 hours.

For Pierre, the role comes on the heels of his performance as John Stewart in ‘Lanterns’. It gives him a chance to showcase a softer, romantic side. ‘Love of Your Life’ premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, where it drew a range of responses. It currently holds a 77% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Many critics have praised Qualley’s performance. Variety highlighted her intelligence and emotional transparency, though the review described the film’s healing journey as pretty but surface-level and predicted strong streaming numbers.
Others were less impressed. RogerEbert.com gave the film 1.5 out of 4 stars, arguing it doesn’t trust its audience, while some reviewers compared its arc to ‘Eat Pray Love’. Supporters have been far more enthusiastic. Some critics called it an authentic character study, with one describing it as an excellent and necessary film for its portrayal of the COVID era.
At its heart, the film explores loss, recovery, and the challenge of starting over. Set against the backdrop of the pandemic, it follows Maya across nearly a decade of her life. Whether viewers find it moving or overly glossy, the film’s themes are likely to resonate with many.
