Margaret Qualley’s ‘Love of Your Life’ Trailer Teases a Romance That Changes Everything

Margaret Qualley is heading into the fall with another very different kind of role. The actress stars in Love of Your Life, a new romantic drama from filmmaker Rachel Morrison, and the first trailer gives audiences a look at a story that starts with a simple meeting before taking its main character in a completely unexpected direction. The movie is already attracting attention because of its cast, its emotional story, and Morrison’s growing career behind the camera.

The trailer introduces Qualley as Maya, a young woman who crosses paths with Charlie, played by Gabriel Basso. Their meeting quickly turns into something much bigger, and it seems like Maya begins to imagine a completely different future for herself. But just when everything appears to be going in the right direction, her life is suddenly changed. From there, the movie seems ready to explore what happens when someone loses the future they thought they were going to have.

Julia Cox wrote the screenplay, while Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson are producing. The cast also includes Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aaron Pierre, Catherine Keener, Tamara Lawrance, and Corey Johnson. With so many recognizable names involved, the movie has plenty of room to give Maya’s story several different relationships and emotional connections instead of keeping everything centered on the main romance.

Qualley is also having a particularly busy year. Love of Your Life is one of several projects putting her in the spotlight in 2026, following How to Make a Killing and coming before her appearance in Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars. Her recent work has allowed her to move between smaller dramatic movies, unusual genre projects, and bigger productions, and this new film gives her another chance to lead a character-driven story.

The movie will first arrive at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, where it is scheduled to have its world premiere in the Special Presentations program on September 13. The festival debut could give the film its first major reviews before general audiences get a chance to see it. After TIFF, Amazon MGM Studios plans to release Love of Your Life in select theaters on October 7.

Audiences will not have to wait long for the movie to reach streaming either. According to the release information provided by Amazon MGM Studios, Love of Your Life will arrive globally on Prime Video on October 14. That means viewers who miss the theatrical run will soon have another way to watch Qualley’s latest performance.

Based on the first trailer, Love of Your Life looks like a movie about love, but it is also about what happens after love changes your entire life. Maya appears to be heading toward one future before circumstances force her to start again. With Qualley leading the cast and Morrison taking on another directing project, the film could become one of the more emotional new releases of the fall.
