A new trailer for Wuthering Heights has finally been released, giving audiences a look at Emerald Fennell’s dark and passionate take on the classic story.

The film, described as a Gothic erotic psychological drama, is written, directed, and produced by Fennell and features Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in the lead roles.

Loosely based on Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel, the film follows the doomed relationship between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Robbie plays Catherine, while Elordi takes on the role of Heathcliff. The cast also includes Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell.

Wuthering Heights is set to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the UK on February 11, 2026, and in the US on February 13, just ahead of Valentine’s Day.

According to Warner Bros. and industry reports, Fennell first announced the project in mid-2024, later bringing Robbie and Elordi on board in September of that year. Robbie also serves as a producer through her company LuckyChap Entertainment, which previously collaborated with Fennell on Promising Young Woman and Saltburn.

A fierce bidding war reportedly took place over distribution rights, with Netflix offering around $150 million. However, Warner Bros. ultimately won out with a lower bid of $80 million after agreeing to give the film a full theatrical release and a strong marketing push.

Fennell cast Elordi directly in the role of Heathcliff, without an audition, after the actor had been considering a short break from acting. The choice sparked some backlash online due to Heathcliff’s “dark-skinned” description in the original novel. Addressing the criticism, Fennell said Elordi “looked exactly like the illustration of Heathcliff on the first book that I read.”

Production took place earlier this year across the United Kingdom, with scenes filmed at Sky Studios Elstree and on location in the Yorkshire Dales. The movie was shot on 35mm VistaVision film with cinematography by Linus Sandgren.
