Margot Robbie Opens up About Her Wild Party Days Getting Kicked Out of Clubs
Margot Robbie may be the reigning queen of Hollywood elegance, but she recently took a trip down memory lane to remind the world that she hasn’t always been so poised. Appearing on the Table Manners podcast on February 10, the thirty-five-year-old actress delved into her wilder years as a resident of Clapham, South London.
Before she was an Oscar nominee and a global producing powerhouse, Robbie lived in a crowded, four-bedroom flat nicknamed “The Manor” with six roommates, leading a lifestyle she compared to that of a naughty schoolgirl.
During the interview, the Wuthering Heights star admitted that she and her friends were frequently on the wrong side of club security. Robbie shared a hilarious story about being forcibly removed from Infernos, a legendary London nightclub notorious for its sticky carpets and lax rules.
She recalled screaming at the bouncers that you can’t get kicked out of Infernos while being dragged out, only for the security guard to point out that her friend’s specific behavior had finally crossed a line. While she didn’t reveal the exact offense, she confessed that they were eventually banned at a number of places across South London.
The actress also reminisced about her boozy, Harry Potter-themed bachelorette party, which featured a stripper dressed as the famous wizard. She described the performance as very, very funny and not sexy, involving robes, glasses, and every magical innuendo imaginable.
Despite her transition to A-list status, Robbie seems to cherish those “house degenerate” days, even admitting that she once invited the owners of her local corner store to a movie premiere because they refused to believe she was actually famous.
Robbie’s penchant for a good time hasn’t entirely disappeared, as evidenced by her recent appearance on Heart Radio. To promote her latest project, she joined host Amanda Holden in performing a “shoey”—an Australian tradition of drinking beer out of a shoe.
While Robbie noted that they were using elegant, shoe-shaped glass bottles instead of some mangy old sneaker, she didn’t hesitate to neck the drink. It was a refreshing display of the grounded, fun-loving personality that has made her a favorite among fans and colleagues alike.
As of February, Margot Robbie is navigating an incredibly busy season both personally and professionally. She and her husband, Tom Ackerley, are currently enjoying life as new parents after welcoming their first child, a son, in late 2024. Despite the demands of motherhood, Robbie has remained a force in the industry through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment.
Her latest starring role as Catherine Earnshaw in Emerald Fennell’s bold new adaptation of Wuthering Heights premiered in Los Angeles on January 28 and is set for a wide theatrical release on February 13.
The film, which also stars Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, has already generated significant buzz for its “intoxicating and carnal” take on the classic Gothic novel. Looking further into the year, Robbie is expected to star in the romantic fantasy A Big Bold Beautiful Journey alongside Colin Farrell.
She is also producing several high-profile projects, including a live-action The Sims movie and a Monopoly film, continuing her mission to bring unique, female-led stories to the big screen.
Do you think Margot Robbie’s wild stories from her “Clapham era” make her more relatable as a celebrity, or do you prefer the polished version of her we usually see on the red carpet? Share your thoughts in the comments.
