Margot Robbie Stuns in $8.8 Million Necklace Once Owned by Elizabeth Taylor
Margot Robbie has officially traded the vibrant pink of Dreamhouse living for the windswept moors of Yorkshire, and her wardrobe is following suit. Stepping onto the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of Wuthering Heights at the TCL Chinese Theatre, the actress signaled the start of a press tour that promises to be every bit as curated as her iconic Barbie run. This time, however, the aesthetic is far more gothic, drawing inspiration from one of the most obsessive and destructive love stories in literary history.
For the occasion, Robbie wore a custom Schiaparelli couture gown that leaned heavily into Victorian-era flourishes. The look was a reimagining of a design from the brand’s spring 2026 show, featuring a laced strapless bodice paired with a dramatic petal skirt. The onyx and scarlet red gradient of the skirt felt like a direct nod to the turbulent romance between her character, Cathy, and Jacob Elordi’s Heathcliff.

While the dress was a feat of craftsmanship, the real showstopper was the historical weight of her jewelry. Robbie wore Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic heart-shaped Taj Mahal diamond, a piece famously gifted to the legend by Richard Burton for her 40th birthday. The diamond, which features an inscription in Parsee that reads Love is Everlasting, was originally a gift from the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahangir to his wife, Nur Jahan.

The history of the piece is steeped in grand, often tragic romance, as it was later passed to Mumtaz Mahal, the woman for whom the Taj Mahal was built as a memorial. Cartier eventually acquired the stone and set it on a gold and ruby chain, where it remained a staple of Taylor’s world-renowned collection until it sold for $8.8 million in 2011. Choosing such an emblem of intense, epic love served as a poignant tribute to the high-stakes obsession at the heart of Emerald Fennell’s new film.
Robbie, who is also a producer on the project through her company LuckyChap Entertainment, has been incredibly active in Hollywood lately. After the global phenomenon of Barbie, she has focused on bringing more subversive stories to the screen. She is also slated to lead the jury at the Tropfest short film festival in Australia later this month, continuing her commitment to supporting emerging filmmakers.
The film itself, simply titled Wuthering Heights, reunites Robbie with director Emerald Fennell, following their collaboration on Promising Young Woman and Saltburn. In this adaptation, Fennell offers a highly stylized and modern take on the 1847 novel, described by early viewers as a fantastical fever dream. The cast features an impressive lineup, including Hong Chau as Nelly Dean and Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, with original songs by Charli XCX setting the mood.
Jacob Elordi, who stars opposite Robbie, has also been making headlines for his portrayal of the brooding Heathcliff. The duo’s chemistry was a major talking point at the premiere, where Robbie joked about the intense filming process. With the movie set for a wide release on February 13, it is positioned to be the ultimate, if unconventional, Valentine’s Day event for those who prefer their romance with a side of gothic madness.
Do you think Margot Robbie’s method of dressing to match her movie characters helps build more excitement for the film, or would you rather see her own personal style on the red carpet? Share your thoughts in the comments.
