Martin Scorsese, the 81-year-old Hollywood legend, isn’t slowing down. Fresh off the success of Killers of the Flower Moon, which earned multiple award nominations, the Oscar-winning director is reportedly planning a new film. This time, he’s focusing on Frank Sinatra, the iconic singer and actor, for a biopic that could become another standout in his career. While the project hasn’t been officially approved yet, Scorsese is already assembling a big-name cast.

Frank Sinatra remains a giant in American entertainment. Famous for songs like “My Way,” “New York, New York,” and “Fly Me to the Moon,” he also made his mark as an actor. His role in From Here to Eternity won him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1953. Some whisper the mafia, with whom Sinatra had known connections, might have influenced that win, but his performance still shines as proof of his skill. Beyond his career, Sinatra’s personal life grabbed headlines too, especially his stormy relationships.

This biopic fits into a wave of music-centered films. It started with Bohemian Rhapsody about Freddie Mercury, then moved to stories about Elvis Presley, Bob Marley, and Amy Winehouse. A Michael Jackson film is also coming. Scorsese’s take on Sinatra, though, could stand out. His knack for music-driven storytelling hints at something awards-worthy.

Rumors suggest Leonardo DiCaprio, who often works with Scorsese, will play Sinatra. If he nails the role, it might land him another Oscar nod. Jennifer Lawrence is also said to be onboard as Ava Gardner, Sinatra’s second wife. Gardner, a captivating actress, ended Sinatra’s first marriage before tying the knot with him herself. The pairing of DiCaprio and Lawrence sounds like a strong match.

Nothing is set in stone yet. Tina Sinatra, Frank’s daughter and the manager of his estate, has to sign off on the project. Until she does, everything remains up in the air. No one knows when or if she’ll agree, so the film’s future is uncertain for now.

Quotes from the original piece stay intact: “We don’t know if or when that is going to happen, so we cannot speculate about anything related to the project’s future aside from what we know about the director and the cast members,” and “This is all that we have as of the time of writing, but since this is such a hot and interesting topic, we will definitely be following up on the story and will bring you all the information and news you need to know, so be sure to keep following us!” For now, it’s a waiting game, but the idea alone has people talking.
