Marvel Reveals 4 Projects To Watch Before ‘VisionQuest’ — But 1 Important Series Is Missing
Few MCU characters have had a journey as strange or as tragic as Vision. Paul Bettany’s synthezoid first appeared in 2015’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, was killed in ‘Avengers: Infinity War ‘, and then returned in a completely new form as White Vision at the end of ‘WandaVision’.
Now he’s finally getting his own spotlight. ‘VisionQuest’ premieres on Disney+ on October 14 with a 2-episode debut, serving as the final chapter of a trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ in 2021 and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’ in 2024.
With the premiere just over a week away, Marvel Studios has offered fans a handy catch-up guide. The studio highlighted 4 MCU projects to revisit before the series arrives: ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘WandaVision’.
‘Age of Ultron’ is the natural starting point. The film shows Vision’s creation, introduces James Spader’s Ultron, and also brings in F.R.I.D.A.Y., both of whom play roles in ‘VisionQuest’.
That makes the movie especially relevant this time around. Ultron is one of the AI personas living inside Vision’s mind in the new series, and Spader is returning for the role for the first time since 2015.
‘Civil War’ develops one of the MCU’s most important bonds. Following the events of ‘Age of Ultron’, Wanda goes to live at the new Avengers facility, where Vision is tasked with watching her while she’s placed on house arrest.

The film also shows Vision balancing cold logic with his growing feelings for his fellow Avengers. Even though he and Wanda end up on opposing sides of the Sokovia Accords, it’s where their relationship truly begins to take shape.
‘Infinity War’ is arguably the darkest chapter of Vision’s story. Thanos kills him by tearing the Mind Stone from his head, and Marvel’s promotion specifically highlights the pair’s Edinburgh scene.

‘WandaVision’ then picks up the pieces. Wanda’s Hex creates a sitcom reality where Vision lives on, and the finale’s debate about identity, framed around the Ship of Theseus, sets up ‘VisionQuest’ directly by introducing White Vision.
Interestingly, Marvel left ‘Agatha All Along’ off its list, even though it’s the middle chapter of the trilogy. That omission quickly caught fans’ attention online. Many guides argue the show is still worth watching. It explains how Tommy’s soul ended up in a new body, and in ‘VisionQuest’, Ruaridh Mollica plays Thomas Shepherd, making it especially relevant.

The series also connects to Vision’s AI personas. Disney’s official synopsis names Edith among them, giving viewers another reason to catch up. For fans who want to go even deeper, Tom King and Gabriel Hernandez Walta’s 2015 comic miniseries ‘The Vision’ laid the groundwork for both ‘WandaVision’ and ‘VisionQuest’. It’s often recommended as essential reading for understanding the character.
The series, led by showrunner Terry Matalas, follows White Vision as he searches for his identity and lost memories while being hunted. Along the way, he must resist Ultron’s influence and confront the AI personalities embedded in his programming.
With 8 episodes, including feature-length final chapters, the show promises plenty of answers. Vision is also set to return in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ in 2027, so his story is far from over.
Do you think Marvel should have included ‘Agatha All Along’ on its list of projects to watch before ‘VisionQuest’?
