Marvel Rumored to Be Developing New Thor Project, Possibly Separate from the Movie
Marvel might be planning more adventures for Thor, but it’s still too early to say what exactly that looks like. Lately, fans have been talking a lot about the possibility of Thor 5, though nothing official has been announced.
Actor Chris Hemsworth will return as the God of Thunder in Avengers: Doomsday, and that’s the only confirmed appearance for now.
The director of the last two Thor movies, Taika Waititi, was asked if he would direct another one. His answer was simple, it’s not something he’s working on or even thinking about right now. That answer didn’t upset many fans. Even though Thor: Ragnarok was a big hit, many didn’t like Love and Thunder, which had a very different tone.
In the middle of all this, a new rumor has surfaced about a project called Thor Quest. This comes from Daniel Richtman, a well-known industry insider who shared the news through his Patreon. He didn’t say what kind of project it is, maybe a movie, a series, or something else entirely. Marvel hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
Marvel developing something called Thor Quest. Obviously has something to do with Thor but no idea what it is yet
What makes this more interesting is that Thor Quest already exists in another form. In 2023, Disney Books published a young adult novel titled Thor Quest: Hammers of the Gods. It was a story about a young Thor and his friends, including Loki, Sif, and Fandral, going on a wild adventure. It had monsters, funny moments, and mistakes that helped shape Thor into the hero he would become.
One of the writers of that book, Jackson Lanzing, described it like this: “This is the untold story of how Thor first encountered the hammer that would change his life forever told from the perspective of his best friend, Fandral, and his newest rival, Sif. Young fans can expect to get a whole new perspective on the God of Thunder and his incredible, adventurous world.”
No one knows if Marvel’s rumored Thor Quest is based on that book, or if it just happens to share the name. But with the God of Thunder set to appear again and fans hungry for new content, it’s possible Marvel could be exploring different ways to tell Thor’s story, maybe even something outside the main films.
