Agatha All Along is the newest addition to the MCU, bringing several fascinating characters into the cinematic universe, including the cosmic entity Lady Death.

As you may know, due to her vast powers, incorporating Death into storylines is challenging, but Agatha All Along did it flawlessly.

Aubrey Plaza’s character, Rio Vidal, also known as Lady Death, was introduced early in the show, but viewers didn’t realize she was the cosmic entity at first. It was later revealed that Rio and Agatha had a painful, complicated past, which helped make the character more relatable.

This humanizing aspect was important in showing the right version of Lady Death. She was portrayed as grieving and being affected by what seemed like “mortal” problems, just like any other character.

It wasn’t until Rio was revealed as Death that we saw her immense power, with the character literally tearing apart the fabric of reality. However, it’s the character’s grounded nature that makes her fitting for future projects.

In Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of Agatha All Along, Aubrey Plaza discussed playing Death, sharing how much she enjoyed the character’s complexity and contradictions.

She appreciated the chance to portray three different versions of the same character, which she felt would work well in the MCU. Plaza also highlighted how collaborating with Kathryn Hahn, who played Agatha, helped reveal new layers of her character.

Plaza’s portrayal of Death emphasizes her calm, curious nature, balancing cosmic neutrality with moments of vulnerability. She embraced the challenge of making Death both dangerous and compassionate, and her excitement suggests she’d be eager to explore the character further.

We recently shared rumors circulating about a potential spinoff for Lady Death. While these rumors haven’t been confirmed by official sources, we believe it could work. Death holds one of the most intriguing roles in the Multiverse.

In addition to the spinoff, both Agatha and Billy were teased with futures that will be explored further in the MCU. Hopefully, Lady Death will return to join them.
