Marvel Studios Rumored to Introduce the Multiversal Masters of Evil in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Avengers: Doomsday originally began as Avengers: Kang Dynasty, but due to the legal troubles surrounding Jonathan Majors, the film underwent significant changes. Now, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom is set to be the main villain, replacing Kang.
With this shift in focus, the plot direction of the movie remains uncertain, and previous rumors and speculations are no longer relevant.
One earlier speculation about the villains in Avengers: Doomsday suggested the possible appearance of the Multiversal Masters of Evil. Created by Mephisto and Doom Supreme, this group was originally formed to battle the prehistoric Avengers, but their ambitions grew to dominate hundreds of realities, leaving Earth-616 as their final target. The most notable members included the Berserkers, Black Skull, Dark Phoenix, Ghost Goblin, King Killmonger, and Kid Thanos.
The story of the Multiversal Masters of Evil begins with Doom Supreme, who had conquered nearly everything in his own timeline, achieving the titles of Sorcerer Supreme and Necromancer Supreme in brutal fashion. However, he grew bored and sought a new challenge. He decided to travel back in time to kill the prehistoric Avengers, but the task proved more difficult than expected, prompting him to recruit villainous variants from different timelines.
When Doom Supreme arrived in 1,000,000 BC, he encountered Mephisto, who suggested forming a team of supervillains to defeat the prehistoric Avengers, leading to the creation of the Multiversal Masters of Evil. Their goal was to defeat these Avengers across the Multiverse, with Earth-616 as their ultimate prize. Despite knowing Mephisto’s ulterior motives, Doom Supreme agreed.
Doom then assembled a lineup of powerful villains, including Kid Thanos, Dark Phoenix and her Berserkers, King Killmonger, Ghost Goblin (Norman Osborn), and the Black Skull.
According to the latest comments from Alex Perez during a Discord AMA, the Masters of Evil might still make an appearance in the movie, though this depends on a rumor he heard that connects back to the comics which inspired an earlier version of the film’s plot.
Hifive326: Are we still going to get a Multiverse Masters of Evil for Avengers:Doomsday in addition to Doom?
Alex: I have no comment. When I mentioned them, it was because they were the main villains of a comic that I was told was part of the backbone they were incorporating for these movies, but I have no idea if they will be the main villains of Doomsday. But it would be a good idea if they were because they’d just be replacing the villains they were going to have in Kang Dynasty with Immortus, Rama-Tut and Centurion.
Including them would make perfect sense, as evil variants of different villains and characters were always intended to be a central focus of the Multiversal Saga.
