Marvel’s Comic Book Writer Is Working On A New ‘Doctor Who’ Comic

Dan Slott, comic book writer known for his work on Marvel comic books — The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Silver Surfer, Tony Stark: Iron Man, The Mighty Avengers, and Fantastic Four — is officially confirmed as the writer for three new annual Doctor Who comics.

Titan Publishing Group, which is releasing graphic novels under the imprint Titan Comics is developing the new comic book with Slott as the writer and Christopher Jones as the illustrator. The Doctor’s companion Martha Jones, who was portrayed by Freema Agyeman in the TV series will also have a main role in the comic.

“One of the worst secrets in comics is that I am one of the world’s biggest Whovians! I’ve been regularly watching Doctor Who since the Tom Baker years, and am deeply devoted to every incarnation of the show! I’ve been waiting to write stories for the Doctor my whole life! And I couldn’t be happier than getting a chance to tell an all-new tale of the Tenth Doctor – and to be doing this with Chris and all the fine folks at TITAN! Allons-Y!” – Dan Slott for

Dan Slott is known for his comic books Silver Surfer, Amazing Spider-Man, and Superior Spider-Man, for which he won several awards. He also worked for DC on Arkham Asylum: Living Hell, and Batman Adventures. Christopher Jones is working with him as an artist. Jones previously worked on Doctor Who comic books, including Doctor Who: The Seventh Doctor – Operation Volcano and Doctor Who: The Third Doctor – Heralds of Destruction.

Scottish actor David Tennant portrayed the Tenth Doctor between December 2005 and January 2010. Tennant also worked for Marvel, in the TV series Jessica Jones, in which he portrayed the villain Kilgrave.

The first issue of Doctor Who: Special 2022, written by Slott and illustrated by Jones, will launch in April 2022.
