Marvel’s Deadpool Joins ‘Magic: The Gathering’ in a Limited-Edition Secret Lair Set

Deadpool has just entered the world of Magic: The Gathering. And, of course, he’s doing it in style—riding a unicorn and wielding a katana. This new collaboration between Marvel and Magic: The Gathering is part of a limited-edition Secret Lair set, which was announced just in time for April Fools’ Day, though it doesn’t seem to be a joke at all!
Fans of both Deadpool and Magic: The Gathering were surprised when the new cards dropped. The announcement revealed that the cards would come in both foil and non-foil versions, but the non-foil versions sold out in just hours.
For those quick enough to grab a set, the official Magic site has confirmed that these cards are “stable enough to be legal in Eternal formats,” meaning you can actually play with them in certain Magic tournaments.
This Secret Lair set includes five cards, each featuring Deadpool and his usual over-the-top antics. One of the most exciting cards is called Deadly Rollick. This card shows Deadpool riding a unicorn and holding a katana, and it has a powerful ability. It lets you instantly cast any commander spell under your control without paying its mana cost.
Another fun card is called Trading Card, and it’s just as wacky as you’d expect. The card allows you to swap its text box with another creature’s text box. The flavor text humorously says, “Draw Deadpool like one of your French cards,” making it clear this set has all the quirky humor Deadpool fans know and love.
The artwork for this Deadpool set is a mix of epic and silly, perfectly capturing the chaotic spirit of the character. The designs come from a talented group of artists, including Justine Cruz, Slawomir Maniak, Miguel Mercado, Kevin Sidharta, and Tomasz Zarucki. These illustrations bring Deadpool’s wild personality to life on each card.
If you’re lucky enough to have snagged one of the non-foil sets, great news—shipping will begin on April 3. However, there are still some foil cards available, but you’ll have to act quickly if you want to get your hands on them before they sell out.
This Deadpool x Magic: The Gathering collaboration is already a hit, and for fans of both franchises, it’s a rare and fun opportunity. So if you’re into Magic and want to add a little Deadpool chaos to your deck, make sure to grab a set before they’re gone!
