Marvel’s Director Of Visual Department Calls ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ Crazy And Wild

Although we got a confirmation from Sony that Spider-Man 4 will happen, Spider-Man still isn’t the first MCU hero that will get a fourth solo movie. If we exclude Avengers, four movies that were all crossovers, then we can say that the first MCU saga that will get the fourth installment is Thor. Chris Hemsworth will return as God of Thunder, one of three original Avengers that are still active in MCU.

Thor 4, officially titled ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019. The movie will follow God of Thunder after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Thor will part his ways with Guardians of the Galaxy, and while Guardians are on their way to their third movie, Thor will have a battle against Gorr, The God Butcher, who will be portrayed by Academy Award winner Christian Bale. Natalie Portman returns as Jane Foster, and it was announced that her character is set to become Mighty Thor. Tessa Thompson and Jaimie Alexander are also set to return as Valkyrie and Lady Sif.

Andy Park, Marvel’s Director of Visual Development now revealed that the movie is wild, crazy and that it pushes the boundaries of what is comfortable and what is expected. Check the full quote below:

“There’s a reason why there’s been over a decade of successful movies and just why this franchise is growing. So Thor: Love and Thunder falls right into that where it’s just pushing the boundaries of what’s comfortable and what should be expected. You’ll be surprised and push these characters and the visuals go along with that. I think [Waititi] said it in some interview where he’s just like, he’s surprised that he’s even, he shouldn’t be allowed to make a movie like this. And I get it. This movie is crazy wild. It’s so much fun. And I simply cannot wait for everyone to see it. Because it was so much fun to work on and design so many characters and do keyframes for. It’s going to be a good one. It’s going to be fun.”

Taika Waititi, director of Thor: Ragnarok, returns to direct Love and Thunder, and he co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released on July 8, 2022.
