Marvel’s What If…?: Season 2 Reportedly Confirmed To Premiere This Year

With Marvel Cinematic Universe still growing with every new movie and a tv show, there’s really no telling where this franchise is leading us now in this post-Endgame era. Last summer, the ever-growing franchise finally touched into the animated waters with What If…?, animated series based on the idea of retelling already known stories with some crucial differences.

What If…? last August and the first season consisted of nine episodes. Although it was always known that the series will get a second season, the series wasn’t officially renewed until Disney+ day last November. Just like in the first season, most of the cast from the live-action movies and tv shows will reprise their roles.

The first season ended with the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) assembling the Guardians of the Multiverse to fight super powerful Ultron, who succeeded in his plan to transform himself into Vision’s body as he planned in Avengers: Age of Ultron. After he destroyed his own universe, Ultron discovered there’s a whole Multiverse and different universes he could destroy as well, so the Watcher assembled a special team to defeat him. It is expected that the second season will continue that storyline with the Guardians of the Multiverse, but it will also show us what some newer MCU movies, like Black Widow, would look like with some of those What If differences.

According to The Direct, Disney recently revealed a new press release for the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight, and the part of it also revealed what Marvel shows we will watch on Disney+ by the end of this year — Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and What If…? Season 2.

“The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently the highest-grossing film franchise of all time. Feige is building on that success with a host of new series that streamed on Disney+ in 2021, including “WandaVision,” “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” “Loki,” “What If…?” and “Hawkeye.” Upcoming original series for 2022 include “Moon Knight,” Ms. Marvel,” “She-Hulk” and the second season of “What If…?.”

The next Marvel series is Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac in the titular role. The series will premiere on March 30, exclusively on Disney+.
