‘Mass Effect’ Live-Action Series in the Works from Fallout Production Team
he Mass Effect TV series is officially on its way, and it’s being developed at Amazon. While fans have known for a while that a live-action adaptation was in the works, there’s a new detail that many missed, some of the same people behind the Fallout TV series are also working on Mass Effect.
This connection wasn’t made public through any flashy announcement. Instead, it came from a post by screenwriter Daniel Casey. He quietly mentioned it back in November 2024 on Instagram, and only recently have Mass Effect fans started to notice what he said.
In his post, Casey wrote, “Doing this right is and has been top priority for nearly two years now. We have a great pilot script and series outline, the team that Amazon has in place (same team as #fallout including the fantastic @scottfarris) is incredible.”

That name he mentioned, Scott Farris, is listed on LinkedIn as a senior television executive and creative strategist at Amazon. While Casey is writing the show, it looks like people high up in Amazon’s production team, who also worked on Fallout, are involved in bringing Mass Effect to life.
This doesn’t mean the same writers or the exact same creative vision will carry over. But considering that Fallout was pretty well-received by both fans and critics, it seems Amazon is sticking with what worked when it comes to organizing the behind-the-scenes crew.
The Fallout show didn’t adapt any of the game stories directly. It told a new story with new characters, set in the same universe.
So naturally, fans are wondering what direction Mass Effect will take. A short plot description found online once suggested that the show might follow the original trilogy from the games, but that could have been a placeholder. Nothing official has been said yet.
Some fans actually hope it was a placeholder. The Mass Effect games are known for their custom characters and player choices, especially with Commander Shepard. Turning that into a TV show would mean creating one “canon” version of Shepard and locking in decisions that were always meant to be personal for each player. It would be tricky to pull off.
Because of all that, there’s a real chance that the Mass Effect series might go down a similar path as Fallout, building a new story in the same universe rather than trying to copy the games. For now, fans will have to wait and see how it all shapes up.
