‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 4 Release Window Officially Announced

Fans of Jeremy Renner’s gritty crime drama Mayor of Kingstown have something to look forward to, as Paramount+ has announced the release window for season 4. According to a recent Paramount quarterly earnings call, executives shared that the show, created by Taylor Sheridan, will hit the streaming platform in October 2025.

It’s part of a packed lineup of Sheridan’s shows, slotted between Tulsa King season 3 and Landman season 2.

Mayor of Kingstown stars Renner as Mike McLusky, a mediator in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan. His job is to keep the peace between gangs, prisoners, guards, and cops in a town where tensions run high. The series dives into heavy topics like racism, corruption, crime, and justice, earning praise for its bold storytelling.

When it first premiered in 2021, it was simulcast on Paramount Network and Paramount+, pulling in 2.6 million viewers, making it the network’s biggest scripted debut since 2018, per Variety.The show was officially renewed for a fourth season in December 2024, and fans are eager to see where Mike’s story goes next.

The series has had a mixed but improving reception over its run. The first season scored a 33% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 27 reviews with an average of 5.6/10. Critics weren’t fully sold, saying, “Despite campaigning with a strong pedigree, Mayor of Kingstown botches its reelection chances by giving constituents too much gloom and grit and not enough reasons to care.”

Metacritic gave it a 54/100 based on 15 reviews, calling it average.Season 2 didn’t fare much better, with a 50% Rotten Tomatoes score from eight reviews, averaging 5/10, and a Metacritic score of 60/100 from four critics.

But the show found its footing with season 3, which earned a 78% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from nine reviews, with a stronger 6.6/10 average. Viewers have clearly connected with the series, and its growing fanbase has helped secure its place in Paramount+’s lineup.

Mayor of Kingstown stands out for its raw look at a community torn apart by systemic issues, with Renner’s performance as the tough but fair Mike McLusky anchoring the drama.
