Mckenna Grace’s Fairytale Flower Braids Steal the Spotlight on the ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ Press Tour
The countdown to ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ is well underway, and the cast is now touring the world to promote it. The franchise’s latest prequel arrives in theaters and IMAX on November 20, taking audiences back to Panem 24 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute.
The international press tour has already produced plenty of memorable fashion moments. Mckenna Grace, who plays District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner, has quickly become one of the tour’s style standouts.
The latest photos of Grace getting ready for a ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ press appearance show a look straight out of a fairytale. Her long golden hair is styled in loose crimped waves with a side braid, decorated with white daisies, pink blossoms and pastel butterfly clips.
Fans immediately compared the style to a Disney princess. One fan account called her “MY RAPUNZEL,” and the dreamy floral hair has quickly become one of the most shared images from the tour.
The hairstyle was paired with an archival Vera Wang gown, according to stylist Molly Dickson. The mauve lace dress had a fitted bodice, square neckline, mermaid skirt, peach lining, a gray ruffled flower on one shoulder, and a long, sweeping train.

Chopard floral diamond rings and earrings echoed the flowers in her hair. Alan White styled her hair, and Molly Warkentin did her makeup, finishing the look with dewy skin, rosy cheeks, and glossy pink lips.
The look is part of the Australian leg of the tour, which began in Sydney on October 14. Grace and co-star Joseph Zada, who plays young Haymitch Abernathy, posed by Sydney Harbour with the Opera House behind them.

That evening, the pair attended a fan event at The Eveleigh at The Grounds of Alexandria, which included a live Q&A and a surprise aerial performance inspired by the franchise. Comedian Joel Creasey hosted. Grace wore a pale pink House of Gilles gown with an asymmetrical one-shoulder neckline and floral earrings by Anabela Chan.

Grace’s fashion choices have also honored the franchise’s history. At a ‘Hunger Games’ exhibition in Paris, she wore a feathered Monique Lhuillier gown recreating Katniss’ wedding dress from ‘Catching Fire’.

That look recalled the press tour for ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’, when Rachel Zegler wore several outfits inspired by Katniss. Some fans also read Grace’s braids as a nod to Katniss, although Maysilee wears a braid in the film too.
In ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’, Grace plays Maysilee, Haymitch’s fellow tribute from District 12 in the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell. She is also the original owner of the Mockingjay pin that Katniss later wears.

The 20-year-old actress is known for ‘Gifted’ and for playing Phoebe Spengler in the recent ‘Ghostbusters’ films. Maysilee is one of her biggest roles yet. Francis Lawrence directs the film for Lionsgate, adapting Suzanne Collins’ novel.
Zada and Grace are joined by Whitney Peak, Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, and Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman. Glenn Close, Maya Hawke, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Ben Wang also star, making it one of the biggest ensembles in franchise history.

With weeks still left before release, Grace has already given fans several memorable looks, from her Katniss-inspired gown in Paris to her flower-covered braids in Sydney. If the rest of the tour continues like this, her style could become one of the defining parts of the film’s promotional campaign.
