MCU Releases First Trailer for ‘Wonder Man’ – In-Universe Promo References Superhero Fatigue
Marvel Studios has finally dropped the first trailer for Wonder Man, the upcoming live-action series that will arrive on Disney+ in January 2026.
The show introduces Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, a struggling actor and stuntman who suddenly finds himself with superpowers.
Created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, Wonder Man is part of Marvel’s Phase Six and will be released under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner, a label meant for more grounded, character-driven stories that don’t require deep MCU knowledge. Guest serves as the showrunner, while Cretton directs episodes alongside Stella Meghie and James Ponsoldt.
The cast also includes Ben Kingsley returning as Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, along with Demetrius Grosse, Ed Harris, and Arian Moayed in supporting roles.
Production on the series began in Los Angeles in early 2023 but was paused due to the Writers Guild of America strike. Filming resumed in January 2024 and wrapped a few months later. Marvel officially unveiled the show in late 2024, confirming that it will consist of eight episodes.
The trailer stands out for taking a self-aware tone that directly addresses the idea of “superhero fatigue.” Instead of ignoring the growing conversation about audiences getting tired of superhero stories, Wonder Man seems to lean into it, poking fun at the genre while still exploring fame, identity, and what it means to be a hero in a world full of them.

The footage is presented as an in-universe promo, blending Hollywood satire with Marvel’s trademark humor. It offers a first look at Simon Williams trying to balance his life as a performer and a super-powered individual, all while navigating a world that may be growing weary of people like him.
Wonder Man will premiere on Disney+ in December 2025 and mark a new direction for the MCU’s storytelling approach, focusing more on human stories rather than multiversal chaos.
